It was a very successful day for the Calgary Flames players at the World Championship. Let’s check out how the games went down.

Three of the four Calgary Flames members were in action on the tenth day at the World Championship, but it was a successful day for all of them. David Rittich was in net for the Czech Republic, Mikael Backlund was captaining Team Sweden, and Johnny Gaudreau on the ice for Team USA.

The Czechs had a dominating win over Team France. Although Rittich only saw ten shots, he stopped all ten to record his first ever Worlds shutout. Their 6-0 victory over France. This win following Switzerland’s loss later helped the Czechs keep that third place spot in Group A.

We then had Johnny Gaudreau for Team USA in their dominating 9-3 win over Team Norway. Gaudreau started the tournament out on a different line but has since moved to the second line with Dylan Larkin and Anders Lee. Gaudreau had one assist and one penalty in the game.

With that win, USA continues to hold the first place spot in Group B.

Later was Mikael Backlund for Team Sweden playing against Team Switzerland. Backlund had an incredible game, netting one goal and three assists in Sweden’s 5-3 win, and he got the player of the game! This is the first Flames player so far at the tournament to win player of the game. Backlund now has two goals and four assists at the tournament. This also helped Sweden keep that first place spot in Group A with 17 points in six games.

There are only two days left of the preliminary before the playoffs start. Bill Peters and Team Canada still have two games remaining with the other three players with just one game. And by the looks of it, it seems like all four will move on to the quarter-finals.
