Happy Monday! Let’s take a look at all of the latest news and top moments surrounding the Calgary Flames over the past week.

It wasn’t a crazy busy week for the Calgary Flames this past week since it was the All-Star break and the team was on their bye week as well. They played just two games, going 1-1-0, but they definitely could have gotten another point if they just pushed a little harder. On Friday against the Washington Capitals, they let in a goal with under a minute to go for the game-winner.

That being said, let’s check out the top moments from this past week.

Top moments

Sam Bennett shaves

We’re starting off with some unfortunate news. Sam Bennett decided to shave his Lanny-esque moustache after growing it out for a few months. It was the closest fans had to Lanny McDonald‘s iconic stache, which of course, nobody will ever truly come close. But it’s a sad time for Flames fans. Bennett claims that he couldn’t stand it anymore.

Looks like he needed some pointers from Lanny.

The Forsberg

During the first period against the Capitals on Friday, Mikael Backlund had an absolutely disgusting move against them. He stole the puck in the neutral zone and skated down with about four Caps players on him, got through all of them, then slid the puck past Braden Holtby in a move known as “The Forsberg”.

It was a gorgeous and filthy goal and will absolutely be making highlight reels.

Elias Lindholm taunts Canes fans

As everyone around the league knows, the Carolina Hurricanes do something called a “Storm Surge” after their home wins. If they win on home ice, they get the fans amped up by initially clapping their hands and playing some sort of game, whether that be just racing across the ice, or their latest, Duck Duck Goose. It’s a lot of fun (unless you’re Brian Burke), but Elias Lindholm decided to have some fun of his own.

After the Calgary Flames beat the Canes, Lindholm decided to start his own storm surge against his former team. After all, he WAS once a Hurricane, seems fair that he’s allowed to do this, right?
