Three Selections

Liam Ruck

For much of the 2025/26 season, Liam Ruck of the Medicine Hat Tigers emerged as a popular pick among the Calgary faithful, for two reasons. First, he's a native of Western Canada (BC), and given the Flames history of drafting players from the United States, it's easy to see why they've changed tactics under General Manager Craig Conroy.

Secondly is the relationship with Ruck and Flames prospect Andrew Basha, who formed a formidable line for the Tigers alongside Liam's twin brother Markus, and given all of these factors, he's been a popular pick for the Flames with their second first-round pick.

This past season, Ruck posted an incredible 45 goals and 104 points across 68 games played, and with good size at 6-foot-0, 180 pounds, he was picked three separate times across mock drafts, making him the concensus pick for the Flames at this point in time.
