Back in 2022, many expected Shane Wright to be the No. 1 overall pick, but with that selection, the Montreal Canadiens shocked the world and went with Juraj Slafkovsky instead. In hindsight, that turned out to be a fantastic move, as Slafkovsky appears set to be a top-six player for years to come, but for Wright, we are yet to see him even approach his potential at the NHL level.

In 2023/24, Wright appeared in 59 games at the AHL level, dominating with 22 goals and 47 points, but since arriving in the NHL, his career high is 44 points despite becoming a regular over the past two seasons. At 22-years of age, Wright still has all of the offensive upside that he did heading into the draft, and while Seattle may want to be patient with his development, this is also a team that's likely pushing towards the Stanley Cup Playoffs next season.

Late in the campaign, Wright was given an opportunity as the Kraken's 2C, but with the team looking to add a veteran presence, the Flames may be the perfect trade partner with Seattle. Ultimately, Wright's upside would be an incredible opportunity for the Flames, and while he's likely going to cost them more than Craig Conroy is comfortable paying, if he could pull this off, it would give the team another valuable asset down the middle.
