4. Olli Maatta

Olli Maatta was a pickup that nobody expected at the trade deadline, and after injuries to both Yan Kuznetsov and Kevin Bahl late in the season, his experience guiding this young blue line was invaluable. Despite playing in just 22 games for the Utah Mammoth early in the season, Maatta came alive when he landed in Calgary, posting 2 goals and 14 points in just 21 games played, just four points shy of his 18 that he had across 77 games during the 2024/25 campaign.
If the Flames were a shot at the post-season next year, Maatta could play a perfect role as the second or third blue liner on the left side, but given that they'll likely be shooting for a top pick again, there's simply no role for a 31-year old former two-time Stanley Cup winner. As a result, the Flames should cash in on his hot finish and the lack of LHD available in free agency to land a solid asset for the future by dealing him before training camp this off-season.
Prediction: Given the lack of LHD available in free agency, the Flames cash in on Maatta's hot finish and deal him for a solid return this off-season.
