Ryan Strome was acquired at the 2026 trade deadline by Calgary, and while many questioned the move at the time, even after the Nazem Kadri trade, it turned out to be a masterstroke from Craig Conroy. In the 19 games Strome played with Calgary, he posted a very impressive 5 goals and 12 points, and if he can keep that up, he'll be a significant trade asset for the Flames ahead of the 2027 trade deadline.

The reason behind that is that centres are always incredibly valuable at the deadline, and if the Flames can retain on Strome's already very cheap $5 million contract, a contending team would love to land a veteran with such experience. That's definitely a risk,

Prediction: Calgary will move Strome for a pick and a prospect at the trade deadline.
