1. Blake Coleman

At last seasons trade deadline, the Flames moved the veteran duo of Mackenzie Weegar and Nazem Kadri, and in return they got several veterans, several prospects and upwards of six draft picks in the first two rounds between 2026 and 2028. The biggest surprise of all was that veteran winger Blake Coleman was not dealt, and although he's reportedly happy in Calgary, at 34-years-old, he likely wants the opportunity to chase another Stanley Cup.
That simply won't be done in Calgary, and with just one year remaining on his current deal, it makes sense for the team to get value out of him now, something that Conroy has prioritized as GM of the Flames. While this past season wasn't his best, in five years with the Flames, Coleman has tallied 99 goals and 199 points across 392 games, and alongside being one of the best penalty killers in the NHL, he's a very good two-way forward.
There's many ways to deal Coleman, with the team potentially looking to pair him with another asset to either move up in the draft or get an additional pick in the 2026 NHL Draft, but either way, he should be dealt this summer to open up a spot for a younger player.
Prediction: The Flames will package Coleman (retained) for a good draft pick ahead of the 2026 NHL Draft.
